Contestants have to play an obligatory and a chosen work in the semi-final and final, and an obligatory work in the final.

Classical–Contemporary Category

PRELIMINARY
Obligatory work:
a freely chosen movement from Johann Sebastian Bach’s violin sonatas, violin partitas or cello suites
Chosen work:
any music piece, arrangement, or instrumental work featuring a cimbalom solo
SEMI-FINAL
Obligatory work:

Chosen work:
a music piece from any musical era (max. 8 minutes)
FINAL
Obligatory work:

PRELIMINARY
Obligatory work:
a Hungarian folk song arrangement chosen from this list
Chosen work:
cimbalom solo piece or cimbalom solo with accompaniment
SEMI-FINAL
Obligatory work:
an original composition by the contestant (for cimbalom or trio with the cimbalom as a leading instrument, max. 8 minutes)
The Organizing Committee provides double bass and viola accompaniment for folk music pieces, and double bass and drums accompaniment for jazz / world music, free of charge.
Chosen work:
a freely chosen cimbalom solo with accompaniment (jazz standard, folk song, pop song etc., max. 8 minutes)
FINAL
Obligatory work:
a concert program of around 30 minutes with the cimbalom as a leading instrument
(the Organizing Committee provides an accompaniment of max. 2 musicians by advance agreement)
